More than an
art studio
Sunshine Art Space is a community of artists, educators, families, and supporters brought together by one simple belief:
Every child deserves access to creative expression.
A little creativity can make a big difference.
Some children find us through weekly classes. Some spend their summers creating with us at camp. Some celebrate their biggest days here. Others walk through our doors because a scholarship made it possible.
However they find Sunshine, every experience begins with the same belief: open-ended art making gives children space to explore their ideas, take creative risks, and discover what they're capable of.
Along the way, they're building confidence, curiosity, resilience, and connection.
& making some pretty wonderful messes, too.
Where it all
began.
Long before Sunshine had a studio, owner Jessica Samet, kept a well stocked craft supply closet at home.
A former classroom teacher, she spent twelve years at home with her own children, providing a gathering place around her dining room table and in her front yard for neighborhood kids to create, imagine, explore, and make messes together.
After COVID, she was ready to get back to working with children outside her own home. Not knowing exactly what that might become, she started small—inviting her friends' children to join her for some one-off arts + crafts classes, knowing they would still love her even if the classes were a flop.
Spoiler alert - she never flopped. And those first classes grew into something much bigger than Jessica ever imagined.
Today, hundreds of children walk through Sunshine's doors each year to create, celebrate, explore, and discover the confidence that comes from making something uniquely their own.

But what about
the kids who
can't get here?
As Sunshine grew, that question kept coming back.
For some families, cost creates a barrier. For others, it's transportation, health, disability, or simply not having access to quality arts programming nearby.
We realized Sunshine's mission couldn't stop at the studio doors.
So we created the Sunshine Art Space Community Fund—helping provide scholarships, build partnerships with schools and community organizations, and bring meaningful creative experiences directly to children where they are.
THE NEXT CHAPTER
& now, Sunshine is heading home.
Born and raised in the Big Easy, New Orleans is the city that shaped so much of who our founder, Jessica, has become as an adult.
When she was just 21 yrs old, Jessica’s mom passed away unexpectedly. This ultimately lead her to plant roots in Houston, but the unshakable soul and spirit of New Orleans remained in her heart over the next two decades.
Bringing Sunshine Art Space home is a true full circle moment for Jessica. It’s an opportunity to share this work with the community that raised her and a chance to honor the memory of her mom, whose essence continues to inspire the way we welcome every child who walks through our doors.
Houston helped us find our light.
New Orleans is what comes next.
From one table to
two cities — we're
just getting started.
What began as neighborhood kids creating around a dining room table has grown into studios, school partnerships, scholarships, and a community of families who believe creativity has the power to connect, build confidence, and transform lives.
And we're just getting started.
